This painting portrays a herd of bison moving forward across an open, sunlit plain. The composition is centered on two prominent bison in the foreground, painted with vibrant oranges, reds, purples, and yellows that suggest the way sunlight reflects off their thick, rugged fur. Their powerful presence is emphasized by their large heads and muscular bodies.
The bison are rendered with bold, expressive brushstrokes, giving them a sense of movement and vitality. The background features softer, blurred shapes of additional bison, suggesting depth and the vastness of the herd. The ground is pale and neutral, almost washed out by the bright sunlight, allowing the rich colors of the bison to stand out.
The sky is a delicate blue with subtle variations, contributing to a sense of openness and calm. I combined loose, impressionistic details with more defined areas, creating an energetic yet harmonious scene that captures the majesty and strength of the animals.
Original Oil painting on aluminum composite panel mounted on cradled wood panel ready to hang. The sides have been left in a light wood color and it is ready to hang without the need of framing.
